Introduction
- This page is intended to support the work of library staff when answering patron questions and is not intended for public consumption. This page collects helpful, current, and timely information and resources about the various improvement projects active around Brewerton. Currency and accuracy are not guaranteed. The most up-to-date and official sources of infomation aobut each initiative are listed under each section. The resources listed here are included because they answer often-asked question and do not represent the entirety of resources available; again, official sources should be consulted for complete information.
Rte 11 Bridge Replacement
- The Library makes available several official documents for this project. The DOT Project Document for Bidders (DPDB) is contained within the larger DOT Final Design Report (DFDR) which the library has a printed copy of in the Preservatin Studio. The DFDR contains a lot of data about the existing bridge and conditions (e.g. photos of rusty supports and trusses, traffic studies) while the DPDB seems to be only information relevant to contractors building the new bridge (e.g. what signage is needed for road closures, what are the specs for the materials). The new bridge will be the second gussetless truss bridge in the U.S. and the first in New York State. Currently, the amended contract end date is 12/06/2026. It is expected that traffic will move to the one-lane temporary bridge in November 2025 with new bridge completion anticipated for September 2026. There is a field office for the project next to Brewerton Ace Hardware, the engineer in charge is John Banewicz. More documents can be found here.

Similar to other construction, the project will reduce and interrupt road and river traffic periodically. Seeking alternate routes is advised, especially Novenber 2025 - September 2026. Hamlet of Brewerton Initiatives
New York Forward
- NY State has promised $4.5 Million to fund projects in Brewerton. The Strategic Investment Plan was drafted by state consultants with the input of the Local Planning Committee. The State is reviewing the Plan and the order in which projects will be prioritized for funding sohuld be announced by late spring / early summer 2025.
